    The Rev. S. M. Conway, pastor of Bowhill Baptist Church, is about to leave the district, having received a unanimous call to the Baptist Church, Dumfries.
    Mr Conway, who is third son of Mr James Conway, now retired, residing at Blebo Craigs, Cupar, came from Dundee over six years ago, where he carried on business as a dentist along with his brother, Mr R. F. Conway. He succeeded the Rev. James Young, who went to Manchester. At that time the church, which was recently built, was £300 in debt, but through the energies of Mr Conway it now stands free of debt.5

  • Obituary: The obituary of Robert Fisher McKenzie Conway was was published on 25 August 1947. Obituary in Dundee "Courier" Monday 25th August 1947 reads :
    Collapsed in Pulpit
    A Dundee minister collapsed in the pulpit yesterday. He died shortly afterwards in the infirmary.
    He was Rev. R. F. Conway, minister for five years of Broughty Ferry Baptist Church.
    Two weeks ago, while addressing an open-air service for children on Broughty sands, Mr Conway declared he wished to die in his pulpit talking to children.
    Yesterday he had just finished his talk to the children and was offering prayer when he collapsed. A deacon and two members ran to his assistance. They carried him to the vestry and a doctor was summoned.
    Later he was removed to the infirmary, where he died.
    Mr Stephen Ponsford closed the service. The evening worship was cancelled.
    Mr Conway, who was 64, lived at 28 Albany Terrace, Dundee. His wife, a life-long member of Rattray Street Baptist Church, was not in her husband's congregation when he collapsed. She was informed of his illness at the close of service at Rattray Street.
    Mr Conway was for a time a popular dentist and leading lay preacher. Twenty-six years ago he became minister of Newburgh Baptist Church and subsequently held pastorates in Abbeyhill, Edinburgh, and in St Andrews and Hamilton.
    He is survived by Mrs Conway and four daughters.19
