  • Newspaper Article: He was mentioned in a newspaper article On Tuesday last, William Burnet, mason from Forfarshire, was killed almost instantaneously by a stone falling upon his head and shoulders, which slipped at the lowering of a crane employed in the construction of railway bridge near Tain on 13 July 1863.11

    On Tuesday last, about eleven o'clock, while the workmen engaged in constructing railway bridge over the road connecting the farms of Kirksheaf and Plaids in the vicinity of this town were lowering a stone by the crane, it accidentally slipped from the string, and fell on the head and shoulders of William Burnet, a mason from Forfarshire, who was engaged in building the bridge. Death was the almost instantaneous result. Deceased was about forty years of age, and leaves a wife and six children to mourn his loss. His remains were interred in the St Duthus Chapel burying ground on Thursday. on 16 July 1863 at Tain, Rossshire, Scotland, .8
