On Tuesday last, about eleven o'clock, while the workmen engaged in constructing railway bridge over the road connecting the farms of Kirksheaf and Plaids in the vicinity of this town were lowering a stone by the crane, it accidentally slipped from the string, and fell on the head and shoulders of William Burnet, a mason from Forfarshire, who was engaged in building the bridge. Death was the almost instantaneous result. Deceased was about forty years of age, and leaves a wife and six children to mourn his loss.
