- Birth*: Leon Ferdinand Fleuret was born on 8 November 1879 at Stanley, Falkland Islands, ; Leon Ferdinand FLEURET born 8 November 1879 in Stanley and baptised 11 January 1880 by Holy Trinity Church. His father’s occupation was recorded as gaucho.1
- He was the son of Augustus Nicholas Fleuret gaucho, gardener and Margaret Ellen Warren.1
- Note for Web*: Leon Ferdinand Fleuret Leon, an apprentice nearly out of his time and working for FIC (Falkland Islands Company), while working on a ship in Stanley Harbour got a steel
splinter in his eye which was removed but inflammation set in the other eye. As a last resort he was advised to go to the Buenos Aires hospital. [FIM Fb 1900] Leon departed for England on the Ammon 22 February 1900. In April 1900 Leon was in Westminster Opthalmic Hospital and his damaged eye was removed and the surgeons had grave doubts that they could save his other eye.
