  • Newspaper Article*: James Conway gardener was mentioned in a newspaper article BROUGHTY SEAMAN MISSING. The whaler Active, of Dundee, Captain Alexander Murray, put into Peterhead Bay yesterday morning and reported the loss of James Conway, a young seaman belonging to Broughty Ferry. The Active left Dundee on Thursday for Hudson Bay, and she had only been a few hours on the passage when Conway was discovered to be amissing. Search was made for him all over the vessel but without avail, and as he was not seen to have gone ashore with any of the boats which accompanied the vessel some distance, it is conjectured he had fallen overboard on 13 June 1904 at Dundee, Forfarshire, Scotland, .2
