  • Anecdote forWeb*: In memory of my Great Uncle William Doig Waddell of the 1st Bn Black Watch, who didn't return from the Great War. This is a photograph of him and his wife Margaret. They were married in Forfar on 19 July 1915 and William died 3 months later on 13 October in Loos, France. He was 25. He doesn't have a personal headstone but is commemorated in an inscribed panel in Loos Memorial Cemetery. His name also appears on a stained glass church window in Forfar.1
