  • Note for Web*: Operations Service - Sierra Leone Medal The Operational Service Medal (OSM) Sierra Leone is awarded to personnel who completed operational service in Sierra Leone or the Joint Operational Area between 5 May 2000 to 31 July 2002.

    To apply for the Operational Service Medal - Sierra Leone, you must have either:

    1 day of service on Op Barras or Op Maidenley
    14 days continuous or accumulated service on Op Palliser
    30 days continuous or accumulated service on Op Basillica or Silkman

    A silver rosette may be issued for service on Operations Maidenly and Barras. The rosette is worn on the ribbon of the OSM.

    The colours of the ribbon represent the jungle and the 3 services..1
