  • (Groom) Marriage*: He married Mary Peter domestic servant, daughter of John Peter mason and Janet Webster, on 20 October 1866 at Aberlemno, Forfarshire, Scotland, ; James and Mary were married on the 20th October 1866 at Dam of Tillywhandland, Aberlemno, after Banns according to the Forms of the Established Church of Scotland. James was 30 years old, a bachelor, a ploughman, residing at Woodside of Turin, Guthrie. His parents were Charles Cargill, pendicler, and Barbara Robertson. Mary was 25 years old, a spinster, a domestic servant, residing at Dam of Tillywhandland, Aberlemno. Her parents were John Peter, mason, and Janet Webster, deceased. The minister of Aberlemno, Thomas Myles, carried out the ceremony, and the witnesses were George Samson and Elisabeth Millar. The marriage was registered on the 23rd October at Aberlemno, Registrar James Stewart.1
