Military Service

  • Prisoner of War: Robert Findlay driver RASC was held as a Prisoner of War between 1940 and 1945 captured at Dunkirk, France in 1940. He was interned at Stalag XXID which was situated at Posen, Poland. It was opened August 1940 and closed January 1945. When the Russian Army had almost reached the camp, the P.O.W's were forced marched to return to Germany. Many died en-route over the 500 mile journey.
  • Military Service*: Robert Findlay driver RASC served with the Royal Army Service Corps between 1940 and 1945.
