Valerie Worrall Just to add to the group thing, although my surname is Worrall, my ancestors are Kydd, Wilkie, Kinnear Purves, and they do crop up in these timelines. Sheila Gerner, who was looking into our family background a ways back is my cousin.

Pat Carson Valerie Worrall I'm also interested in your Worral surname as my maternal line has a strong Worrall / Worrel / etc connection. The Kinnear line we discussed above is my paternal line. Here is Jessie Worrel http://www.genesontheweb.co.uk/g0/p483.htmManage

David Raitt I don't have any children down for JMW Kydd and Margaret Cooney. The connection (for me) is back to John Wilkie who married Isabella Wallace in 1808. JMWK's parents were Jane Wallace and William Kydd. Jane's parents were John Wallace and Jane Middleton. Jane's parents were James Middleton and Isobel Wilkie. Isobel's parents were John Wilkie and Isabella Wallace. Isobel's older sister was Catherine Wilkie (b abt 1813) who married William Purvis - their daughter Mary was my great grandmother.

Valerie Worrall Worrall is my married surname and my brother in law has done a lot of research into the Worrall background. We are from the Midlands - Liverpool, Birmingham, Newcastle under Lyme and many of them were watchmakers or made bits of stuff for horses, there were a lot of horses in days of yore.
Also, there is a village called Worrall on the outskirts of Sheffield There is the Strines Inn which was once a tiny manor house and family seat of the Worralls it is now a pub and much added to although you can still see the medieval bit.

Valerie Worrall JMW Kydd and Margaret Cooney had 6 daughters, one is my mother. Elisabeth or Bessie, Jean, Margaret, May, Moira and Sheila. They were a mixed religion couple, protestant and catholic which divided that family greatly.

Valerie Worrall My mother is Moira and Moira and Sheila are still alive. I was told that JMW Kydd was kicked out of the family for marrying the catholic Cooney. It was a very bitter time.

David Raitt Valerie, you might be interested also look at the Raitt website at www.raitt.org - if you pull up the site map then half way down or so, you will see Raitt relations - and there are pages for Wilkie and Purvis. Also at the top of the page under Related Coats of Arms, and Other Coats of Arms you will find additional general info on common names.
