    Ex-Dundee moderator the Rev Basil Hardy
    THE REV Basil Hardy, former minister at Meadowside St Paul's Church in Nethergate, Dundee, has died in Edinburgh. He was 84.
    He was minister at the church for 32 years until he retired in May, 1984.
    Born in Leeds, Mr Hardy spent most of his early life in the Midlands before his father, who was a Methodist minister, moved the family to Shetland.
    He studied at Edinbugh University and his first charge was at Peterhead East before he moved to St Paul's in Dundee in 1952.
    A former Moderator of Dundee Presbytery, he met the Queen Mother in 1966 when she opened the Tay Road Bridge.
    Mr Hardy became minister of the joint charge when St Paul's was linked with Meadowside in 1981.
    He is survived by his wife Grace, son Brian and daughter Avril.4

    Peacefully, at Leven Beach Care Home, on Friday, June 26, 2020, aged 92, Grace, beloved wife of the late Rev Basil Hardy, dear sister of the late Ruth Hunter, much loved step mother and adored grandma. Sadly missed by all the family. Funeral private but a memorial service will be announced at a later date.

    Grace and I went on Holiday to the Yorkshire Dales in 1979/80 to a New Year houseparty. I was so glad that she found happiness in later life, and remember attending her wedding service to the Reverend Basil Hardy.
