  • Birth*: John Worrel was born circa 1789 at Glasgow, Lanarkshire, Scotland, ; based on birthplace info in 1851 census. [Although it looks like Lanark that's been written - could it be Lancashire? The two could sound very similar dependng on how they are said, so previously thought to be St Margaret Chadderton, Hollinwood, Lancashire 27 May 1790, but this appears to be incorrect as 1851 census clearly states Lanark, Glasgow; whilst the 1841 indicates born outside Scotland]1,2,3

June 10th : page headed 1812 Register of Contracts etc Aug 23 1812 - July 10 1819, NB The date here refers to the granting & signing of the certificate of proclamation by the Session Clerk [P.F.].4

  • Burial*: He was buried on 1 October 1860 at New Howff, Dundee, Forfarshire, Scotland, ; John Worrel, bur 1 Oct 1860, 71 yr, bur New Howff.6
