    A former Dundee man who has lived abroad for many years has died at his home in South Africa.
    Mr William Coupar (80) was born in Lochee and joined Andrew Yule & Co as a mechanicl engineer after leaving Harris Academy.
    He went to work for the company in Calcutta in 1938 and on the outbreak of war enlisted in the British Army at Barrackpore, being assigned to 245 BAttery, Toral Artillery.
    He served throughout the Burma Campaign and was awarded the Burma Star.
    On leave in South Africa he met and married Dora and the couple lived in Calcutta after the was before retiring to South Africa.
    Mr Coupar is survived by his wife and a cousin in Dalgety Bay.4
