The Women’s Auxiliary Air Force was Officially formed in June 1939 and a WAAF Radio Operator would have served through out WW2 in many roles from the very important Ploting Room tracking enemey aircraft, Control Tower to Anti-Aircraft Positions protecting vital towns and Airfields. The WAAF wore a similar 4 pocket tunic to Officers but with Albertross/Eagle and LAC on each sleeve, and Radio Operators badge on right upper sleeve.3,4
