  • (Registrar) Death: James Anderson registrar Dundee, St Mary was the officiating registrar when the death of John Dickson carpet weaver was registered on 24 April 1881 at Royal Infirmary, Dundee, Forfarshire, Scotland, ; CANDIDATE:
    There are discrepancies/anomolies with this person's wife's and mother's names which raise a query, but I believe this to be John Dickson b about 1843, Ireland, who in other records lists his parents as Francis Dickson and Agnes Murray and his wife named Jane McDonald, who is also the mother of his children.
    But this record states married to Jane Connolly, usual residence 24 Ryehill Lane, aged 39 years, parents Francis Dickson carpet weaver (dec) and Elira Menary (dec) with cause of death fractured skull about 12 hours, the informant is Jane Dickson widow her mark 24 Ryhill Lane.
    The RCErepeatas much of the above but states age about 38 years, and "injuries received by falling down a stair while intoxicated" as written on the medical report "obtained by Procurator Fsical."15
